Prendamex, un negocio de empeño


emprendedores3Como empresa pionera de casas de empeño privadas en el país, Prendamex se establece en 1996 en Cuautitlán Izcalli, Estado de México, y en 1997 surge su primera franquicia en el Distrito Federal. Hasta el día de hoy se ha venido posicionando como un servicio financiero no bancario que cubre las necesidades de cerca de 40 millones de mexicanos que lo toman como una opción inmediata de financiamiento.

La empresa se divide en dos áreas la de casa de empeño y la venta de franquicias.

“Prendamex ofrece a las personas que no son sujetas de créditos bancarios el mejor servicio de préstamo a través de la garantía prendaria para casos imprevistos, ayuda a resolver problemas económicos de manera inmediata. Por lo general, los clientes son familias con ingresos menores a los 9 mil pesos mensuales, que suelen pedir prestado para gastos eventuales como; los médicos, pago de servicios, colegiaturas y ven el servicio como una opción de financiamiento respaldada por la Profeco” comento Patrick Comerford director de franquicias de Prendamex.

Por su parte, el Ingeniero Roberto Alor Terán director General de Prendamex resalto que para atraer más clientes “hemos tratado de diferenciarnos de la competencia, por un lado, a través de dar un préstamo más alto en relación con el valor de la prenda. La otra, es dar las facilidades de pago con planes más flexibles, dar un trato amable, nos acercamos a la demanda es decir a las zonas populares y ofrecemos un espacio agradable y seguro para que el cliente no se intimide”

Pese a la crisis “no hemos notado atraso en la venta de franquicias, pero el crecimiento se está dando por franquiciatarios que ya existían en Prendamex no tanto por nuevo, traemos ahorita como cinco nuevas y llevamos más o menos 50 franquicias nuevas este año”, agregó Alor.

A la fecha, Prendamex cuenta con cerca de 700 sucursales, de las cuales 150 son propias y 550 son franquicias dividas entre 90 empresa franquiciatarias; 75% de los adquirientes tiene más de una, es decir son repetidores.

Sobre sus planes de expansión para este año, Comerford, afirmó que esperan abrir 50 unidades más, que se unirían a la red de 700 sucursales que operan en la mayor parte del país.

Asimismo, están por concluir la construcción de la primera franquicia en Los Angeles, en Estados Unidos, y fortalecerán la red de ocho unidades de la marca Súper de Préstamos, la cual opera en Guatemala.

Cabe destacar que Prendamex en el 2008 fue ganador por noveno año consecutivo del Premo Nacional de la Franquicia Telmex otorgado por la Asociación Mexicana de Franquicias (AMF) en razón al crecimiento de nuevas franquicias en su categoría.
